Arrested Muslim university students in dire situation

Ethiopian Muslim university students imprisoned in the Central Prison in Addis Abeba are in dire situation, ESAT learnt. As the families of these few hundreds of prisoners, who come from different public universities, do not know their whereabouts, they have been unable to receive their basic necessities. ESAT has also learnt that teachers, who are also arrested along with the students, have been tortured.  The students are said to be suffering from hunger and lack of sufficient clothing. ESAT’s reporter stated that a number of students are still being arrested from these public universities and are locked in the Central Prison in Addis Abeba. Some of these include: Nuria Kasim and Kalid Mohammed from Bahir Dar University, Yasin Fayemo, Muhammed Amin Kedir and Junedin Hussien from Jimma University, Abdulakim Ahmed from Mizan Tefri Univeristy, Tahir Mohammed, Mohammed Abdurahim and Seid Muhadin from Wello University, Seid Abraham, Omar Mohammed, and Ali from Gonder University, Abdulaziz Seid from Addis Abeba University and Abdela Mohammed from Hawasa University.

Similarly, Solomon Kebede, columnist of Muslim Gudaye, Dai Eikrham Abdu, Dai Jemal Kebede, Hussien Ali and Adem Ahmed Ali from Kemise, Dai Abdurazak Sheikh Mohammed from Shasehmene, Hussien Roba of Harargae and Mohammed Hassen of Dire Dawa are among those who have reportedly been tortured in the Central Prison.

Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn said during the 9^th EPRDF Congress Council being conducted in Bahir Dar City, Ethiopia that his government would soon take action to control the Ethiopian Muslims movement.
